Five years ago, I wrote about all I have to be thankful for during this season of Thanksgiving. They are all still true. This year, however, I had to sit and reflect on all that was good this year, for a lot of “bad” also happened this year.
It would be easier to focus on the bad (e.g., health issues, union issues, no insurance from the burglary, a dear friend’s sickness, etc.), but I wanted to focus on the positive to define this year: Denise, Lucky, and I are relatively healthy; we are financially secure enough that Denise was able to retire at the age of 54; we put a new roof on the cabin and have spent the fall rebuilding the screen porch there; I am still gainfully employed; and I continue to see the sun rise each day…
So, in the unforgettable words of Oddball, “Crazy… I mean like, so many positive waves… maybe we can’t lose, you’re on!”
